What is The Good Crew?
A volunteer operations platform that is built on prioritising volunteer wellbeing and care. Rostering, compliance tracking, onboarding, wellbeing check-ins, escalations, and recognition all live in one system — replacing the spreadsheets and manual tracking most volunteer programs run on today.
Who is it built for?
Volunteer-led and community-care nonprofits that need to roster people reliably, track requirements like WWCCs and police checks, and give boards and funders real governance evidence — without more admin work.
It was built first for a live DFSV organisation, so care and trauma-informed design are built into the platform from the ground up, not added on afterward.
What can volunteers do for themselves?
Volunteers can view their own shifts, request leave, mark themselves unavailable, and cancel or swap a shift. These stay free on every plan, including the free tier — they protect a volunteer's own time and wellbeing, and we don't think that should ever sit behind a paywall.
Is it mobile-friendly?
Yes. It's a responsive web app that works in any browser and can be added to a phone's home screen, so it opens like an app with no download required.
Can it be branded for our organisation?

Is there a free plan?
Yes — Crew Pilot is free for up to 40 volunteers, with 2 admin seats. It's a genuine free tier, not a time-limited trial.
What are the plans and what do they cost?
- Crew Pilot — free up to 40 volunteers, $25/mo up to 100. 2 admin seats.
- Crew Org — $50/mo up to 150, $75/mo up to 300, $95/mo up to 500 volunteers. 8 admin seats.
- Crew Governance — $399/mo flat, unlimited volunteers, 20 admin seats.
All prices are per organisation, per month.
What's actually different between the tiers?
Every plan includes the same core: rostering, compliance tracking, wellbeing tools, and volunteer self-serve features — those are never gated, on any tier.
Paid tiers add coordination convenience for your admin team: shift swap and cover management, self-assign shifts, recognition workflows, bulk actions, and reporting. Crew Org and above also add support for multiple states or teams within one organisation.
Do you offer a nonprofit discount?
Our pricing is already built for the nonprofit sector — flat, low, and discounted from the start, rather than a standard price with a markdown applied on top.
What happens if we outgrow our plan?
Growing within a tier's volunteer bands — for example, Crew Org moving from 150 to 300 volunteers — upgrades automatically. Moving up to a new tier, like Crew Pilot to Crew Org, is a conversation with us first rather than an automatic charge.
Trial & getting started
Can we try before committing?
Yes — we can set your organisation up with a 30-day full-access trial covering every feature, including the ones normally reserved for our top tier. Get in touch and we'll get it organised.
What happens to our data after the trial ends?
Nothing you've built during the trial disappears. If your organisation lands on a lower tier afterward, anything above that tier's limits goes read-only rather than being deleted — so you don't lose your setup, and you regain full access if you upgrade later.
Do we need a credit card to start?
No — both the free Crew Pilot plan and the 30-day trial start without any payment details.
