Most places make you scroll through listings until something fits. Here, organisations come looking for you — and only when you have said they can.

Create your profile

Free, and always will be for volunteers. Every application is read by a person before anyone can be found.

How it works

  1. Make your profile Who you are, what you have done, what you are good at, and how far you will travel. It takes about ten minutes and you can come back to it.
  2. A person reads it Not a system. We confirm your email and mobile, and you tell us you are 18 or over and living in Australia.
  3. You decide who can find you Being findable starts switched off. You turn it on for the kinds of work you actually want, and off again whenever you like.
  4. Organisations come to you They can ask whether you are interested. Nothing of yours reaches them — not your name, not your number — unless you say yes.

What we promise

  • Off by default Nobody can find you until you switch it on. Turning it off takes effect immediately, not eventually.
  • No searching by name Organisations filter by what they need. It is not possible to look up a particular person, and that is deliberate.
  • Your details stay yours An organisation sees your name and how to reach you only after you have accepted an approach.
  • No photographs Search results show what you can do, not what you look like.
  • You see who looked Every organisation that views your profile is recorded, and you can see the list.
  • Resting means resting Taking a break takes you out of results entirely. Nobody is told you are resting — they simply do not see you.

Being straight with you

Plenty of platforms imply more than they do. Here is exactly what accepted means, and what it does not.

  • We confirm your email and mobile, and a person reads your application.
  • You tell us that you are 18 or over and living in Australia. We take you at your word.
  • We do not verify your identity, and we do not run background checks.
  • We are not the verifier of your screening checks. If you hold a Working with Children Check, you keep the details on your profile so an organisation can confirm them with the issuing authority in seconds instead of chasing you for a fortnight. They are required to do that check themselves, and we would not remove that obligation even if we could.

We make verification fast. We never claim it is done.

Already volunteer somewhere?

If the organisation you volunteer with uses The Good Crew, you already have a login. Use that one — you do not need a second, and your Vollies profile stays yours if you ever move on.
